At The Green Office Solutions, looking after the environment isn’t just a nice ideal. It’s part of how we work, every day. From how we source our plants to the materials we grow them in, we’re constantly asking: how can we do better?
One of the biggest changes we’ve made is to go completely peat-free in all of our planters. It’s a shift we’re proud of, and one we think is long overdue across the industry.
Peat might be common in horticulture, but it comes at a serious cost. Peatlands are vital carbon stores. They absorb and hold vast amounts of CO₂ and are home to unique plants, animals, and ecosystems. But once disturbed or drained, these landscapes release stored carbon back into the atmosphere and take centuries to recover, if they recover at all.
So we made a change. After months of research and testing, we found a better way to grow: a high-performance, completely soil-free substrate called Plant-a-Ponic.
Plant-a-Ponic is a mineral-based growing medium made from pumice and high-grade zeolites. It contains no peat, no compost, and no soil, just a clean, stable, sustainable base for healthy plant growth.
Here’s what makes it special:
Indoor spaces come with their own set of challenges. Light levels, airflow, temperature and humidity all affect how well a plant performs. Plant-a-Ponic helps overcome some of these hurdles. Because it’s so light, it’s ideal for installations on shelving, partitions, and high-traffic areas. Because it holds water and air in just the right balance, plants grown in it are less prone to rot, overwatering, or drying out. And because it’s clean, there’s no soil mess or pests to worry about.
We’re not just growing plants. We’re helping to shape healthier, more sustainable spaces. Whether it’s an office, a reception, a breakout space or a retail environment, the benefits go far beyond what’s visible.
Plants help regulate indoor humidity, reduce airborne toxins, and create a sense of calm and wellbeing. By switching to Plant-a-Ponic, we’re making those benefits even cleaner, protecting the planet while helping your people thrive.
This isn’t a temporary trial or a greenwashing exercise. It’s a permanent shift in how we grow and supply our indoor plants. We believe every business can play its part, and this is ours, using smarter materials to grow stronger, healthier plants that don’t cost the Earth.
