1855 Dock Building

Internal landscaping for Grade 2 listed building

We have just finished the internal landscaping of interior built-in plant beds at a residential dock building in Merseyside. The grade 2 listed building was built in 1855-6 and originally 232m long, but was reduced in length following damage in the Blitz of 1941. There are 4 floors with 14 built-in beds on each that contained very dated artificial plants.

The client wished to improve each area with a new planting scheme that was minimalist, but would also compliment the age of the building. After careful consideration the solution was to use a mix of Topiary Buxus balls, Buxus Spiral plants, drift wood and Pandanus plants. Each bed was given glued blue slate as a top dressing.
