Peat Free Plants – Plant-a-Ponic
Here at The Green Office Solutions we are constantly challenging ourselves to look after the environment. Our target is to use peat free options in our planters and to use an alternative, more eco-friendly substrate for our plants to grow in. After some detailed research we now use ‘plant-a-ponic’ a totally peat free substrate, no peat or compost used at all.
Plant-a-Ponic is a pure mineral culture substrate made up of pumice and high quality zeolites. This results in the substrate being very light and particularly suitable for indoor planting.
Plant-a-Ponic is 100% soil free and using this helps to protect our vulnerable peat-lands, saving our wildlife and reducing carbon loss.
Plant-a-ponic is permanently structurally stable because of its high grain. It has good water storage of over 40% and an optimal air pore volume of over 35%. Its substrate is reusable and has a regulation of pH value. It provides ideal conditions for growing as it can absorb 44% of its weight in water.
Plant-a-Ponic is a circular product which means it can be reused and recycled infinitely. The zeolites save nutrients which are then released back into the plant when needed.
Plant-a-Ponic is environmentally friendly being totally peat free and helps preserve the ozone layer. It has a clean system with no soil, no mess, and no compost-borne disease or pests. It also results in healthier plants from aerated root structure meaning that the plants will grow better creating more humidity and cleaner air.
